It's Christmastime YEAH!!! I know it's been awhile since I last blogged, but with school and kids it's been difficult to find a lot of time. I still have my online class that I have to finish, but luckily my night classes are over!!!

November came with Kamry turning 9 months old and deciding she was done crawling and it was time to walk like everyone else. Kamry would rather walk than crawl and will only crawl if she is throwing a fit or if she has fallen down and need support to get back up.

I finished my practicum, and it is really nice to be home with the kids again. I took 2 more tests for my teaching license and pretty sure I failed 1 of the 2, I get my test results Dec. 20th, so I'm crossing my fingers I passed at least 1 of them. For Thanksgiving we invited the Elder's in our area for dinner (which ended up being lunch), but is was nice to have company and not just our small family for Thanksgiving. I even cooked my first Turkey this year and look forward to future Thanksgivings with family.

In December our community had an Electric Light Parade, which was a lot of fun. There were almost 100 floats with several bands and cheerleaders from the local high schools and middle schools. We arrived at the parade 1 hour before it started and had trouble finding places to sit. Apparently people wait for hours prior to the parade and there are all kinds of street vendors to help you spend your money.

There were a lot of really cool floats decorated with lights, but I was holding Kamry and Richie so I couldn't take very many photos.

I finished up my 2 night classes, with some help from Richie on my final projects. I've taught my son well that we only write on paper, the problem is that he feels whatever I'm writing on he should write on. As I was compiling a project Richie came to show me his writing on one of my papers for the project. Of course horrified that the "my son colored on my homework" excuse was going to come into play, I told me son (nt so calmly) that we do not write on Mom's papers.

Last night we finally got our tree up, we had to move one of our couches into a different area to put our tree up. Richie was really excited for us to get the Christmas stuff out and can't wait for Santa to come. He is excited about Christmas this year, which makes it more exciting for me.

Update

This is going to be a picture-less post because there is so much going on and I just don't have time to take pictures. Kamry turned 9-months at the begining of the month and that has brought 3 teeth and wanting to walk. Lately she has been walking with the push/rider that my mom got Richie for his 1st birthday. Richie has been thrilled to ride along or push as Kamry rides it is really fun and cute to watch them play together. Kamry is eating table food at last, when I think to make something she can eat. We have tons of baby food, so she gets a good deal of that as well. We can definately say she is not starving and is growing into her 6-9 month clothes. She is lost a little weight from her 6 month check-up, so she is still around 17lbs. I am working on finishing my classes and gearing up for student teaching. Life will hopefully be manageable during student teaching, I'm sure it will be a lot of Saturday preparation to make it through each week. I took 12 credits this semester and with having an infant it has been really tough. At least next sememster I will not have any night classes, that has been the most difficult on keeping the kids to a bedtime routine.

Halloween and More

Well, we've been a busy family these last 2 weeks. It started when another class I am taking this semester started. It is very hard to go from 1 class to 2 classes at mid-semester, it is much easier to go from 2 clases down to 1 class. It is an 8 week class, with lots of assignments and I'm just hoping to make it to Christmas alive. On Oct. 22nd we had a ward campout. I found a tent at Wal-mart on clearance since summer is over, and we went and had a relatively good time. On Saturday we helped a young man in our ward work on his Eagle Project, with 2 kids in tow we only stayed an hour and a half (Bobby was working). Since no one slept well on the rocky ground, we spent most of the rest of the day napping.

Sunday, October 24; Bobby and I received callings: Bobby - Activities Committee; Selina - RS Teacher and Ward Choir Director. We are very excited for our new callings and the skills we will learn. Monday Bobby left for Idaho for 4 days, which made life a little more hectic for me. On Thursday I received my student teaching letter and am excited to be at Legacy Traditional School in Casa Grande with Jennifer Little. I am currently doing my practicum hours in Ms. Little's classroom and look forward to January and my time student teaching. Thursday, I made slippers for Kamry's halloween costume, but they were sized too small. Friday, I re-did the slippers and they look soo cute. After going to Legacy for practicum hours, I went home got the kids ready to head to our Ward Halloween Party. Bobby got called in to work and wasn't able to help set-up, so I dragged my kids to the church to represent my husband. When I got there at 4:15 (thinking the set-up started at 4), only the activity chair was there. Shortly after 2 men came to help and around 5:00 many people were helping. Somehow, I got 17 bug bites; the party was outside (which I did not expect) and after set-up started getting itchy feet. I was wearing flipflops, but had pants on. Even with pants I had bug bites on my legs. I must have stood where a colony of ants were stationed or something. My left foot is VERY swollen and I don't know how I'm going to wear dress shoes tomorrow.

Richie loved his cowboy costume and slept in it Friday night and wore it all day Saturday. On Saturday, Richie had a Primary Activity and at night we went to the Fall Festival put on by the City of Casa Grande. When we got there the lines for the dozen games were really long, so we went played on the playground and went home.

Our life is busy and we're hoping it will slow down soon.

Vertuccio Farms Family Night

For Family Home Evening we decided to go to a fun farm that had a corn maze. Since we were going and there would be hay I had everyone wear long pants in 80 degree weather. The farm had a "train", cars painted like cows and pulled by a tractor, carnival games, a bounce house, hay maze, corn maze, farm animals, etc. It was a lot of fun, worth the hour of travel time each way. The only down-side was the corn maze did not have any lights; since it was night we didn't get to go very far. All the corn mazes in Idaho are lighted, so we didn't realize we would need flashlights. Other than that we had a lot of fun. Since I didn't have my camera, I used my cellphone which means the pictures aren't great. Mom is sending my camera and I will be grateful to have it in time for Halloween.

Arizona Educator Test and No Sleep

Yesterday, Saturday I had signed up to take 1 of the 3 tests I'm taking to get licensed in Elementary Education in Arizona. I got a babysitter, cleaned the house with Bobby's help, made lunch, and finally got to bed around 9:30p.m. and couldn't sleep. The test was at 8:00a.m. and I had to drive an hour to get there. I figured I needed to be up at 5:30a.m. at the latest. Everyone was asleep, so I go to bed. Kamry kept waking up, I tried my best to keep her sleeping by feeding her when she'd wake up. I realized that her diaper felt really full at one of the feedings, so I decided to change her diaper (it was 2:55a.m. at this point). Of course, she woke up and decided she wasn't going to bed. Bobby got up because he had to get ready for work. After trying to get Kamry to lay down for 30 min. I resigned myself to getting up and hoped that I could nap while she played on the floor; no such luck. I did make myself eggs for breakfast, since I was up early. Kamry started fussing as we went to get the babysitter, fell asleep in the car and stayed asleep after getting home. I am worrying about how I'm suppose to stay awake during a 4 hour test when I didn't get any sleep; not a recipe for success. Somehow I made it through the test in 3.5 hours and I think I did well. I just hope that I didn't spend all that money and fail because I didn't get enough sleep.

I've been having problems getting my practicum started, I am the only one without a placement and I found out yesterday that I may not be able to student teach in Casa Grande school district. Needless to say I'm just frustrated and wondering if I should quit and figure something else out for work; not that I have any ideas where I'll be able to find work. I did apply for a part-time teaching position and hope that somehow I will be given the job; eventhough I'm not licensed as an Elementary Teacher.

Picture-less Post

The begining of August, the kids and I went to visit my family for 2 weeks. The great thing about having your family live only a half hour from your in-laws is that you only have to take 1 trip to see everybody. We were excited to find that my brother-in-law, Beau, is in the process of turning in his mission papers.:) We are really excited and can't wait to hear where he is going. Well, I lost my camera somewhere when I went to visit my Mom. I let Richie look at the pictures on it and apparently never got it back. I really wouldn't even care, except it had pictures of my kids riding horses at my in-laws and I hadn't downloaded them yet. Richie and Kamy were able to go horse riding and they both did really well. Richie can't wait to go back and ride again. Kamry turned six months, which came with crawling, sitting by herself, and eating baby food. She is 26" tall and 16.5 lbs, Richie loves making his sister laugh and has had to learn to share which we are still working on. We moved to Casa Grande in July and are starting to feel like we are moved in. I start back to school on Wednesday and it is a busy semester for me. Along with taking 4 classes I have to take the state exams to get licensed, so lots of studying and I'm not so good at that. Good news is that there is enough hay that needs hauled that Bobby is not going to Idaho for six weeks like we thought he would need to.

4 Years Old and 6 Months!!

Wow!! My baby turned 4 years old on Monday and my new baby turned 6 months. Time seems to fly as an adult, but I remember it being really slow as a kid. Bobby and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at the end of July, it's still hard to believe we've already been married for 5 years.

Kamry is so close to crawling it's scary. Right now we are in Ely, NV visiting family and by the time we get home I'm sure she'll be faster than a tornado. Everyday she gets a little closer to sitting by herself and crawling. She's such a happy baby and smiles all the time, we just love having her in our family. We have a check-up in mid-August, so I'll post how big she's gotten then.

Richie had a really fun day on his birthday. It took him a while to decide it was okay for it to be his birthday. He kept wanting it to be someone else's birthday. We had a pretty easy day. We had a barbeque at the park with lots of family and friends to share it with. The kids played at the park until dinner was ready. We rounded them up and got everyone served. Grandma Jones was getting Richie some watermelon and sat it on the table by me and we look around and Richie was sitting at a picnic table 50 feet away. Granpa Bennett went and sat by him, which Richie really liked. Richie is really into Thomas the Train, so Grandma Jones got him a Thomas birthday cake which he really loved. It took Richie several tries to finally blow out all of the candles, he just wouldn't get close enough to the cake for his blowing to work. He got a 2 new outfits, 2 new games, a puzzle, socks, bubbles, and tub toys. It was a really fun birthday and everyone enjoyed getting together for some fun. I've really missed living so close to family and have fun birthday get-togethers.

One of Richie's presents was taking a train ride. In Ely they have a historic train that runs 2 routes and you get to hear the history of the area, it's really quite fun and informative. This year they are having a special where kids are free, so we only had to pay for my ticket. We went on August 3rd and there were only 4 people besides myself, Richie, and my nephew Jayden. The train has 2 indoor cars and 1 outdoor car. For most of the ride we sat indoors and the boys looked out the windows at the weeds and desert landscape. We went outside for 5 min. or so. We rode close to a town called McGill that is a 15 min. drive (30 min train ride) from Ely. On the way back to the train depot the conductor punched our tickets. For the boys he punched the first letter of their name. Somehow we got on the topic of it being Richie's birthday the day before, so after we got back to the train station the Engineer let us climb into the Engine and Richie got to pull the train whistle 4 times (1 for each year since he was born). It has been a great couple days!!!

Crazy Moving Weekend

Well, we got everything moved Saturday, July 10th. We had a lot of help from both our old and new wards Elder's Quorums. I am especially grateful for our new ward, who had to bring all of our stuff upstairs to our second floor apartment. I don't have any pictures as I haven't found where I packed the camera. Getting all of our stuff from one place to the other didn't end up being a problem it was a lot of other little things. The U-Haul we rented wasn't going to be ready to be picked up when we needed it, so we had to go to Chandler to get a U-Haul the size we needed. Bobby and I only got 2-3 hours of sleep since I hadn't gotten everything packed. Since we had been doing a lot of traveling and in Arizona you have to drink lots of fluids to keep hydrated Richie became dehydrated. He threw-up in the car as I was driving to our apartment in Casa Grande. Since he was sick I went and picked up some dinner, on the way back the air conditioning went out and I started to smell something burning. Since I have blown up 2 engines I'm afraid that was going to happen to our little red car. We got Richie some gatorade and since we have so much stuff there was no place to set-up beds. Bobby found the air matress and pumped it up. Richie and Kamry slept on a couch and Bobby and I on the air matress that barely fit in the living room. Richie woke up throughout the night because he was thirsty, making it difficult to sleep well.

Richie was fine the next morning, and since he was just dehydrated and not flu sick we went to church. After church we all came home to take a nap since we had not slept well the past couple nights. After my nap I woke up sick, I am a terrible sick person, so we did not get the beds set up for another night. We have a wonderful ward and a wonderful couple took Kamry and Richie on Monday morning so I could get some sleep, as well as feeding us dinner on Sunday and breakfast and lunch on Monday. I finally feel better and am ready to start un-packing. The goal today is to get the bedrooms cleared enough to set up the beds. It certainly makes me grateful not to be a pioneer, when I struggle sleeping on an air mattress.

Moving!!

Well, we found an apartment to rent in Casa Grande, AZ. Being forced to move has actually worked out in our favor. We'll be closer to where I'll student teach and Bobby's work. It is sad to leave friends that we've made the last two years, but I know that we'll make new friends. Now all I have to do is start packing, I've got 3 weeks and have no idea if we'll be ready by then.

It has been months since I last posted and so much has been going on. I promise to try and make this post short by showing lots of pictures and telling highlights. Easter was great, we didn't do a whole lot but Richie got lots of candy and Mom helped him eat most of it.

At the end of April we blessed Kamry and we had lots of fun with all of our family at the Tucson Zoo and Toy Train Museum. Richie and Jayden really enjoyed the zoo and wandering around together. The best part is that we all got in for free because the zoo was hosting a children's day, how lucky was that!!!

In May I finished a wonderful semester of school and surprisingly received A's in all 3 classes that I took. Trying to go to school and have a baby at the same time was difficult, but my teachers worked with me and I missed a couple assignments so I definately worked for those A's.

One of my finals was to create a board game for use in a classroom. What are blogs for except to show off all my hardwork that I'm the only one excited about?


June brings a 4 month old Kamry! At 4 months Kamry is in the 50th percentile for her height, weight, and head circumference. She weighs 13lbs. 3oz., which is quite shocking for me since Richie was 24lbs at this point. She is almost wearing 3/6 month clothes, which is sad because I have to put all the 0/3 month clothes away. Girls have such cute clothes that there are tons of onsies Kamry has never worn, and I get sad everytime I have to put some away because they don't fit anymore. She loves to sit, and hates laying down. She spends lots of time in her bumbo seat or being held in a sitting position. Kamry can roll from her tummy to her back and a couple of times she's scared herself by doing it. Kamry is already babling and moves ALL the time (definately a squirmer). Recently her and Richie will play and she'll just laugh and it is really cute and wonderful to see them playing together. On the flip side Richie sometimes loves his little sister a little too much as he lays on top of her or pulls her face and pushes her tummy. It's a wonder second children ever survive infancy.

Summer is here and we've spent some time at the pool and are planning on moving this summer (which may not come as a surprise since we have moved the last 2 years). We're looking at moving end of June/begining of July.

County Fair

On March 20th Bobby, Richie, Kamry and I decided to go to the Pinal County Fair. We walked around the exhibits and saw many neat things the 4-H kids did as projects. One of the coolest was about electricity and had a cool model that they showed. Richie got to see lots of birds, ducks, chickens, and even a huge turkey. He got really excited and called them all "chichens".

We went to where the livestock was being auctioned off and saw goats, pigs, sheep, and cows. We mostly walked around since everything was really expensive, but Richie rode a couple fair rides: a train, carousel, and a car. He really enjoyed riding the rides, especially driving the car.

Celebrate! St. Patricks Day

Well, this year I actually thought about St. Patrick's Day and decided to celebrate it more than I have previously. I got a St. Patrick's Day shirt for my husband, kids, and myself. Bobby, I forgot to remind him, didn't wear his shirt, so it will hang in his closet until next year. The rest of us wore our green shirts to McDonald's where we have play-group. I, also, bought corned beef and cabbage and cooked it myself. I didn't even call my mom for help on how to cook it, instead I looked recipes up on google. We didn't do anything terribly exciting, but I did share my dinner with a friend in my ward and her family. I only eat cabbage on St. Patrick's Day and boy it was good. I am grateful for my Reid heritage and love being Irish!!!

Things going on in the busy Bennett household? Well I am on Spring Break this week and haven't done a lot, but last week I sprained my wrist. It is taking a long time to heal the sprain because I've been exercising (push-ups) and twisting my wrist while taking care of Kamry. I don't remember how I sprained it, I just remember driving and realizing that my wrist hurt. Kamry had a follow-up visit from her hospital stay, she is looking very healthy and weighs 8lbs. 13oz., about what Richie weighed when he was born. I get comments all the time on how cute and little she is. I'm glad that she is growing well, but will miss this stage when she gets bigger. Her newborn sized clothes are finally fitting her well and I'm sure in no time she'll be in 0-3 month clothes. Richie is talking more all the time and thinks he is so big he can carry Kamry around; obviously a no,no. Bobby has been getting Saturday off, which has been nice to have some family time because it looks like work is getting into the busy season. We are hoping he will get this Saturday off so we can go to the county fair this week.

Hospital Run

Well, I've had kids sick with stuffy noses and a cough. Kamry's stuffy nose was causing her problems, so I took her to the pediatrician on Monday, March 1st. At the pediatricians office her oxygen levels were low, so they gave her a breathing treatment to help get her oxygen up. It helped, but her oxygen levels dropped too quickly for the doctor to feel like she was okay. He advised us to go to the emergency room at a children's hospital in the area. At 4 weeks Kamry has gained 1lb., she now weighs 7lbs. 5oz. At the emergency room her oxygen levels were so low that we immediately were put in an emergency room. There she got oxygen, a breathing treatment, tested her for RSV, and a deep cleaning of her stuffy nose.

Poor baby, had to have the oxygen taped to her face so it would stay in place.


Kamry had such thick mucus that when they were suctioning her nose the nurse would have to run liquid to get the mucus thin enough to go through the tube. This is apparently why her oxygen levels were so low, the mucus was so thick she was having trouble breathing. The good news is she didn't have a fever and the RSV test came back negative. We were told that because she was so little she would be admitted to the hospital, even without her having RSV. We spent 4 hours in the ER waiting for a room to become available in the hospital. Due to flu season Richie was not allowed to come to Kamry's room, so my Bishop picked Richie up on his way home from work. Once in her hospital room Kamry was kept on oxygen and seen by a respiratory specialist a couple times. Since I was breastfeeding her the hospital fed me during her stay, which helped with the cost of food. Bobby took work off on Tuesday and Wednesday to take care of Richie and to allow me to go to school on Wednesday. Wednesday night Kamry was taken off oxygen and we were allowed to go home Thursday around noon. She is feeling much better, but still has a little bit of a stuffy nose and a cough which should go away in the next week the pediatrician at the hospital told us. We are very glad to be home and not hooked up to machines.

Kamry kept kicking off her heartrate and oxygen sensor, so they put a sock on over it. The sock kept falling off because it was too big, so they put a band around the sock to keep it on. The other bands were her hospital admittance band and a band to make sure no one kidnapped her.

Adjusting to being a Mom of 2

Well, Kamry will be a 4 weeks old on Tuesday and I am still trying to figure out how to adjust to everything going on in my life. At Kamry's 2 week appointment she had weighed 6lbs 15oz, gaining over half a pound in 1 week. My hopes of her staying little are quickly dying. She is still small and cute, but I am sure that won't last long. I am struggling with keeping Richie off of all the "cool" baby toys. He especially loves the swing, which looks like it could break under his weight at any moment. This last week Richie has been a little more demanding that I take hold him and comfort him. Both of my kids have stuffy noses, making for sleepless nights for Mom.

After getting use to Kamry for the first week and a half, Richie decided he loves to hold her. This is slightly scary for me since he thinks he should be able to pick her up as well. He does a great job at holding her and is a great big brother. Anytime Kamry starts to cry he finds me and lets me know.

I am struggling with finding time to read scriptures, exercise, and do homework in between feeding Kamry, taking care of Richie, cooking 3 meals a day, and getting some type of sleep. Bobby is hardly home with his work schedule, and when he is home he thinks he should get to relax. This makes it even harder to keep up with everything I'm suppose to do, so obviously right now my house is not clean and am hoping to rememdy that this weekend.

Kamry Renae Bennett is HERE!

Well, Bobby and I came to the hospital at 9:00p.m. on Sunday, January 31st. I was given cervadil for 12 hours to help prepare my body for labor. At 11:30a.m. Monday morning I was started on pitocin. I was having painful contractions, but had enough time inbetween contractions that I could handle the pain. I was really expecting things to go quickly and was told at 2p.m. that my doctor could break my water. My doctor never came to the hospital, so my water did not get broken. At 6p.m. I was having difficulty handling the contractions, so opted for an epidural. I was disappointed that labor wasn't progressing and that I wasn't having Kamry on Monday. At 3a.m. on Tuesday I still wasn't progressing, so the pitocin was turned off to give my body a break. At 6a.m. I again was given pitocin. My doctor came by at 9a.m. and broke my water. Pretty much after my water was broken labor started moving. Around 10:30a.m. the nurse called my doctor to let him know I was delivering. My doctor got to the hospital around 11:10a.m. and Kamry was born at 11:16a.m. after pushing only 4 times.

Kamry looks a lot like Richie, she is 6lbs. 6oz. and 20 inches long. She has a really long torso. She has rarely cried all day and has been really calm. She is having trouble keeping her temperature up, but doesn't have to be under any heat lamps. We are keeping her double wrapped in blankets and holding her to give her more warmth. I am really sore, but so glad to have Kamry here and to be done being pregnant. Mom brought Richie to come see Kamry, but he didn't want to hold her. It was nice to see him and I'm grateful my mom could be here to take care of him. He did have trouble leaving me at the hospital, but he's been a real trooper. I can't wait to get a picture of my 2 great kids.

Busy, Busy Week

Well, it has been a VERY busy week. On Monday I started school, I have classes on Monday and Wednesday nights. I will be very busy the next couple weeks trying to prepare my assignments so I do NOT fall behind when Kamry comes.

Tuesday Bobby had an interview with the City of Queen Creek, and he felt it went well. We should hear back sometime next week if he gets the job. I have weekly doctor appointments, luckily Richie doesn't mind because they give out suckers at the end. There was a really good sale at Carter's clothing store, so we went out to Chandler to do a little bit of shopping. Richie and I rode a small train at the mall we went to, Richie thought it was really cool.

On Wednesday some of the ladies in my ward threw me a Surprise Baby Shower during our weekly playgroup. It was a lot of fun and really nice. I got some fun girl clothes, a baby album, a gift certificate for a pedicure, and Richie got a dry erase board and marker.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. We cleaned the living room, made freezer dinners, and put-up blinds in the windows. They had curtains on them, but Richie would pull on them and I was afraid we were going to break them. We invested some money and definately time to putting them up. There are still 2 windows and the back sliding door I would like to do, we'll see how much of a tax return we're going to get before doing this though.

Saturday Night we went to Disney on Ice that was showing in Phoenix. We had a fabulous time and Richie loved watching his favorite characters ice skating. Richie said he wanted Pizza for dinner, but ended up eating only 3 cookies. I did realize that Richie has never seen The Lion King, so he really didn't get excited at that part. We had a really good time, and appreciate getting the tickets for Christmas.

Sunday, I got a new calling as the Ward Music Chairperson and I conduct the music during sacrament as well. I am really excited for this new calling and was able to attend Gospel Doctrine and Relief Society for the first time in 18 months. Richie is doing well in Sunbeams.
